Grizzly Skins of Alaska
Hunting
Grizzly Skins of Alaska has two exclusive federal guiding concessions surrounding our homestead. Although we have access to numerous permits we believe that good hunting can not be mass produced. By limiting the number of clients we take, as well as being highly selective, we have remained the premier producer of trophy brown bears on the peninsula since 1987. Our record is unmatched by any other outfitter on the peninsula and we maintain over a 90% success rate. Every year our clients take bears that qualify for inclusion in both Safari Club and Boone and Crocket club record books.
There are bears that die of old age in our area and we have taken two that were aged by F&G as over 30 years old. In 1999 we killed an old boar with a skull measured by AK F&G at 30 8/16”. It was the largest bear ever measured on the Alaska peninsula and the largest taken in Alaska in forty years! Two other bears taken that same year had skulls that measured 28 10/16” by B&C.
We have two bear seasons; spring and fall and they alternate with the spring season falling during even numbered years and fall seasons during the odd numbered years. There are no dwawings.
Spring hunts are 15 days running from May 10-25 and fall hunts are ten days duration and begin Oct 1 and run through the 25th.
BEAR
Moose with large, impressive racks have been killed in most areas of Alaska. However in many areas of the state it takes a bull a decade to reach the magical 60 inch mark while on the peninsula they can reach that size in six years.
Our average over the past twenty years is 65” and every year bulls killed by our clients make the record books. With over a 90% success rate are hunts are coveted by serious trophy hunters worldwide.
Moose season is Sept 10-20.
I guarantee a concerted effort on the part of myself and my staff to make sure that your trip is memorable, enjoyable, successful and safe. If you arrive in good physical shape, and more importantly, with a positive mental attitude, you will have a great trip.
Due to the remote nature of camps and the volatility of fuel and food prices in bush Alaska yearly prices vary. Please contact us for availability and current prices.
